Kanjhawala death case: Delhi's Rohini Court transfers case to Sessions Court

Kanjhawala death case: Delhi's Rohini Court on Tuesday transferred the case to Sessions Court. As per reports, the next date is April 21.

Kanjhawala death case: Kanjhawala death case: The case has been transferred to Sessions Court on Tuesday by Delhi's Session Court. As per reports, the next date for the hearing is April 21. Earlier on April 1, Delhi Police filed an 800-page chargesheet against the seven accused in the hit-and-drag case. In the case, four of the seven accused; Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mithun and Manoj Mittal were charged with murder. They were arrested on January 2. 

On the other hand, the other two accused; Ashutosh Bhardwaj and Ankush were given bail by the court earlier. Deepak Khanna's bail plea was rejected by a sessions court. The other five accused were produced before the court, which extended their judicial custody till April 13. 

Charge sheet was prepared with 117 witnesses 

The charge sheet was prepared with around 117 witnesses. "On the basis of the material and evidences collected during the investigation, to the best of capabilities, sufficient material has come on record to prosecute the accused," the police said.

According to the charge sheet, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mithun and Manoj Mittal have been booked for murder. Ashutosh and Amit Khanna were also booked under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

It said all the accused were booked for criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence, harbouring offender, common intention and false information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person.

Police levelled additional charges against Amit Khanna 

The Delhi Police has levelled additional charges against Amit Khanna for rash driving and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others.

As mandated by the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the police have submitted their charge sheet within the stipulated 90-day period.

The Delhi Police recently invoked Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code in the case.

It was initially registered for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash driving on public way.
