While reading this you must be reminded of several romantic flicks wherein the lovers tie the knot despite all the hurdles. But this is no starry-eyed tale, this is what something happened in real life. Let us narrate this tale to you. Heather and David met in 2015. Everything was going fine until they found that Heather was suffering from terminal breast cancer.
On December 23, 2016, David decided to propose Heather for marriage. It was the same day when she was diagnosed with the life-threatening illness. While talking about his relationship, David told WFSB, “"She didn't know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she's not going to go down this road alone."
And this is how David proposed Heather. It was as romantic as you thought.
“A pair of draft horses, a carriage, and I arranged it all for that night. We went out on the carriage ride and I proposed to her under a street light."
Originally, the couple planned to get married on 30th December, but Heather’s condition was getting worsened with each passing day. The wedding date was now scheduled for 22nd December.
The pictures from their dreamy nuptials were clicked by Heather’s bridesmaid Christina Lee. In the pictures, she looked as happy as they come, despite the pain and suffering of her body.
The family members and even the hospital staff was seen shedding tears of mixed emotions while the couple said ‘I Do’. And the last words of the bride moved everybody to tears. It was the last words she spoke before she slipped into a deep slumber. After 18 hours of the ceremony, Heather passed away.
Heather was a brave soul, not ready to give up on her love despite the worst circumstances. She might not be present physically with her husband David, but she’s always reside in his heart till eternity. In the picture posted by him, he wrote: “It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something."
