Patna, Aug 22: Demanding Prime Minister be brought within the ambit of Lokpal, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Monday said Bihar government would bring a suitable amendment to a legislation in the next assembly session for an effective and strong Lok Ayukta with the chief minister being within its purview.

The people, he said, were "fed up with corruption and thus we have decided to take a step further for making the institution of Lok Ayukta more effective and strong."

"Excepting some important issues of concerns, the Prime Minister be brought within the ambit of Lokpal," Kumar said while addressing NDA workers at a meeting.

Stating the people of the country were no more ready to tolerate corruption at any level, Kumar said. "this is the reason the entire country is vocal on the Jan Lokpal issue."

"Our government is already fighting corruption and has rather waged a war against corruption...in order to tighten the noose around corrupt public servants," he said apparently referring to the legislation enacted by his government for consiscation of property of corrupt public sevrvants.

"Now we have started confiscating the properties for opening much-needed schools." he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister SK Modi said "the government has with full sincerety and honesty taken steps against corrupt people." PTI
