Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known for posing a very clear and strict attitude towards discipline in professional life. Recently, two group of secretaries (GoS) were left red-faced when PM Modi expressed his unhappiness over their presentation works.

According to a report in Times of India, the Prime Minister had last week met group of secretaries to assess the works done by various government departments.

During the first meet with group of secretaries on agriculture and allied sectors, Prime Minister first expressed his displeasure and then observed that ‘enough effort was not put in’ by the officials.

The group, which had secretaries from different departments, was asked to come out with ideas and policy interventions, the report said, adding that ‘later directions were given to work on the assignment again and come out with fresh ideas relating to the specific sectors’.

At another meet with the group on health, sanitation and urban development, PM Modi left the presentation even before it was complete, sending signals that he was unhappy with the work of bureaucrats.

Even though the reason for his abrupt departure are not known, the two incidents have send a message that presentations have to be up to the mark.

This was an unusual behaviour from his side since the Prime Minister mostly sits through entire presentations and also participates in discussions.

According to All India Radio, PM Modi has asked top government officials to continue thinking holistically and give top priority to concrete outcomes as he emphasised that the Centre is open to new ideas.

An official statement said that Union Ministers, all the secretaries and other department heads, officials from PMO and Niti Aayog were also present on the occasion.
