The video is said to have been shot on Sunday after evening prayers at the JuD headquarters in Lahore while the encounter to eliminate militants was underway in Srinagar.

India TV News Desk, New Delhi [Updated:26 Jun 2017, 4:48 PM IST]

In a revelation that marks yet another testimony to Pakistan’s nefarious design to ferment terror on Indian soil, a video shows Abdul Rehman Makki, the defacto in-charge of affairs of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) in the absence of his brother-in-law Hafiz Saeed who is under house arrest, delivering a live commentary of Sunday’s terror attack targeting a CRPF convoy in Srinagar. The clip shows Makki lauding terrorists who attacked the Indian forces in the wee hours and were holed up inside the DPS campus at that time.

The video is said to have been shot on Sunday after evening prayers at the JuD headquarters in Lahore while the encounter to eliminate militants was underway in Srinagar. He can be heard saying that ‘Lashkar mujahids are bravely fighting Indian Army’. It is also believed that an hourly briefing of the encounter was broadcasted there.

“The attack is underway in Srinagar for the last 24 hours. The Lashkar mujahids are courageously fighting against the Indian forces in Kashmir. They are heroically fighting against the evil Hindu forces. I request you all, my brothers, to pray for them, remember them in your prayers because at this time we can’t help them,” he is heard saying in the clip.

The 14-hour-long encounter ended late last evening when security forces gunned down two militants holed up inside the DPS Srinagar. Two Army men were also injured in the fight. The militants had entered the Delhi Public School located close to the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Saturday evening after attacking a CRPF party in the nearby Pantha Chowk, killing one officer and injuring a constable.

The road opening party of the CRPF was attacked in the high security zone located less than a kilometre away from the headquarters of the Srinagar-based Army Corps. Immediately thereafter, the security forces cordoned off the school premises which has seven buildings, comprising 36 rooms, and the staff and others were evacuated.

A day after the operation ended, the Kashmir Valley today witnessed unpleasant scenes after Eid prayers when  a few incident of stone-pelting and clashes between protesters and security forces were reported. Clashes between protesters and law enforcing agencies were reported from Sopore, Anantnag, Rajpora, Shopian towns and Safakadal area of the city. There were no reports of anyone getting hurt in these clashes. The authorities have placed top separatist leaders, including Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest, fearing that their presence at large Eid gatherings could spark violence, the officials said. JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik has been taken into preventive custody and lodged at Central Jail, Srinagar.

Interestingly, a second video that emerged today shows Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin asking Hurriyat leaders to organise a celebration to mark the death anniversary of slain terrorists including Burhan Wani and Muzaffar Wani. “July 8 is the day of Burhan Wani’s martyrdom. For July 8 to 13, the anniversary will be celebrated on a grand scale. The Hurriyat should actively support this to make the celebrations a success,” he said.

Burhan, 22, was a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and was popular among the Kashmiris due to his activities on social media. He was killed in an encounter with the Indian forces on July 8, 2016.
