Five more held at Mumbai airport with Rs 70 lakh worth gold hidden in sandals and pockets

Mumbai: Mumbai Customs air intelligence unit officials on Tuesday arrested five passengers coming from Bangkok and Dubai carrying nearly Rs 70 lakh worth gold without declaring.


Personal searches of these five passengers yielded 2.353 kg gold valued at Rs 69,12,805, an official said.

Mohammaed Imtiaz who arrived from Bangkok was caught with one gold bar weighing 706 gm in his pocket, worth Rs 17,74,903.

Mir Moosa Raza from Bangkok was caught with two gold bars weighing 401 gms in pocket, worth Rs 10,07,664.

Sayed T. Hussain from Bangkok was also arrested with two gold bars  weighing 400 gm  worth Rs 10,05,152.

Muztaba Hussain from Bangkok had concealed three gold bars weighing 381 gm worth Rs 9,57,407 inside his sandals.

Mohammed Qureshi from Dubai came with four gold bars weighing 465 gm in his pocket, valued at Rs 11,68,489.
