After fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal region, cold waves have gripped the entire northern states with the temperature dropping to below 6 degrees Celsius in Punjab and Haryana.
Dense fog disrupted several flights and trains in Delhi as the weatherman forecast light rain or drizzle in the national capital on Saturday.
At least 100 trains and 19 flights were delayed due to dense fog in the national capital on Friday. Both rail and air traffic was affected as visibility dipped considerably as thick fog enveloped the region. The Met Department has forecast "severe cold conditions" accompanied by light rains and drizzle in the city for Saturday.
More than 100 trains were running late due to fog in Delhi which affected rail traffic under the Northern Railways with delays of up to two hours. Visibility dipped considerably due to the dense fog.
Due to low temperature and high humidity, the air quality was in the "severe" category in the morning. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Delhi's AQI at 8 am was at 430.
Srinagar was reeling under a low of minus 3.7 degrees Celsius -- 2.2 degrees below the season's average. The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest recorded place in the Valley with a low of minus 11.5 degrees Celsius.

Meteorological department has forecast dense fog in Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Sikar, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Nagaur and Sriganganagar districts for Monday.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan ordered the closure of all government and private primary schools on Monday in view of the adverse weather conditions, the officials said. They said the decision was taken in view of the heavy fog which has been prevailing in the valley for the past few days. A thick layer of fog engulfed most parts of the valley for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, affecting the visibility and causing problems to the people, especially motorists.
The air traffic was badly affected in the Kashmir Valley on Saturday as dense fog forced cancellation of all flights to and fro Srinagar airport, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
Today, the minimum and maximum temperature of Delhi will hover around 14 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius with the humidity at 46 per cent. The shallow fog will envelope the region throughout the day.
