The Badrinath shrine is one of the four pilgrimage sites referred to as 'Char Dham.' The other sites falling under the group of four are Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath.
According to the temple committee, the gold had been transported to the destination three days ago through 18 horse mules.

The sacred portals of Badrinath were opened early on Friday with only a select group of priests and Devasthanam Board officials attending the low-key ceremony.
The lord Badrinath temple has been decorated with flowers in a grand manner and several pictures have made it to the internet that are simply breathtaking. This will be the first time that a limited number of people will be present during the opening of the temple doors.
