Tamil Nadu: At least four people have died and more than 15 were injured after a bus collided with a lorry today (May 16) in Maduranthakam on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway as it lost control while trying to overtake.
"The injured persons have been taken to Chengalpattu Government Hospital", said Padalam Police.
The incident occurred after a multiple collision involving an omni bus, lorry, and a state government bus at Maduranthakam, in the suburbs of Chennai, police said on Thursday.The driver of the omni bus coming to Chennai lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a lorry at Pookkathurai on the national highway in Maduranthakam in the small hours today. A state government bus which was trailing crashed into the omni bus, they said.
Four people died instantly and several people, mostly passengers who were injured in the mishap, were shifted to the Chengalpattu government hospital for treatment, they added.
Earlier, on Wednesday night, around eight people were killed and another was injured after their SUV collided with another vehicle in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district.The accident occurred on the busy Indore-Ahmedabad highway in Indore.
