Saina Nehwal took to Twitter to slam the CWG.

Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal's father's name was cut from the official list for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, which meant that the family member would not be allowed entry to the games village or witness any of the matches the shuttler would play. Nehwal took to Twitter to lambaste the CWG after her father's name was removed.

The Sports Ministry had earlier cleared the names of Nehwal's father and Sindhu's mother to travel with the Indian contingent for the 2018 CWG, at no cost to the government. However, on learning that the shuttler's family member's names were cut from the list, Nehwal took to Twitter to slam the CWG.

Nehwal's father Harvir Singh and Sindhu's mother Vijaya Pusarla were among the 15 officials/no-athletes who were cleared at no cost to the government.

However, the Indian Olympic Association took to Twitter to clarify matters by stating," Dear @NSaina , Mr. Harvir Singh is an accredited Extra Official! As stated in the CDM Manual of Gold Coast 2018 CWG and repeatedly conveyed to BAI, the payment for accreditation of Extra Official does not include bed in the Games Village.

Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra responded to Nehwal's tweeted by stating," Am sure as a member of the @olympics Athletes committee you are well aware of accreditation protocols. Wishing you all the best for the CWG.”

According to the list provided by the Indian Olympic Association, 326 members including 218 athletes have been sent for the 2018 CWG at Gold Coast, Australia which commences from April 4.
