Rajkot: On 43rd birthday of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, the shining star of Indian Cricket and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli smashed his maiden T20 century in the league match of IPL 2016 against Gujarat Lions.

The RCB run-machine smashed an unbeaten 100 off just 63 balls, including 11 swift boundaries and a sky-high six.

After smashing his first ever T20 century, Kohli said that he didn’t expect to hit a century in this match as the pitch was not so easy to play shots.

"It's a good feeling but the game's not over, it's just half of it. Today was one of those days when I didn't expect myself to get a hundred," Virat said after his innings.

Kohli needed 15 runs off the last over to get his maiden T20 ton, which he got after hitting two fours and a six off Dwayne Bravo. He scored first 50 runs in 40 balls but took just 23 deliveries to complete the next fifty.

Kohli has been in exquisite batting form for the last couple of months. Here are his last ten T20 innings scores -- 23, 55*, 24, 82*, 89*, 75, 79, 33, 80 100*. A total of 640 runs with a whopping average of 107!

He is also the leading run scorer in the ongoing IPL 9 till date with a total of 367 runs in just five innings that include three half centuries and his maiden T20 ton.
