Prime Minister Narendra Modi is today celebrating his 66th birthday. An on this special occasion, he visited his home in Gandhinagar to seek blessings from his mother Hira Ba.
"Mother's love and blessings are the basic essence of life," PM Modi tweeted in Hindi along with two pictures of him and his mother.
He also thanked President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari for their wishes.
"I thank Honourable Rashtrapati ji for his kind birthday greetings," he tweeted.
"My gratitude to Vice President Hamid Ansari for his wishes," Modi said in another tweet.
Last night, he arrived here to a grand welcome extended by top BJP leaders. He is scheduled to fly to the tribal district of Limkheda later today to inaugurate water and irrigation schemes worth over Rs 1,700 crore.
He will also address a public rally at Limkheda before leaving for Navsari in south Gujarat where he will address Samajik Adhikarita Shibir (workshop) for disabled children.
The BJP, on the other hand, has planned 67 events to mark this day as 'Sewa Divas' (day of service).
“Lets celebrate the Prime Minister's birthday as ‘Sewa Diwas’. I am happy that lakhs of party workers across the country have decided to hold events of social service on this occasion. As a party worker, I will take part in a cleanliness drive in Telangana,” BJP president Amit Shah said.
The Prime Minister would leave for Surat on his way to New Delhi on Saturday evening.
