Rajasthan: As the renowned Pushkar fair kicked off on November 6, it is giving a lifetime experience to the tourists. But most importantly, this annual fair brought back the traditional Rajasthan art form of puppetry to the minds of people, which by the passage of time was losing its existence.

Pushkar fair, that gave a fresh breath of life to puppetry, not only attracted the visitors, especially the kids which came from all over the country, but also allowed the artists to make a quick buck.

Puppetry artists expressed happiness over the steps taken by the Rajasthan government to revive the dying art.

“A couple of years ago this art died. Now the government has given it a new lease of life. So the government is helping us and are letting our art of puppetry survive.

"The Rajasthan government is also helping the renowned puppetry artists by promoting them in cultural programs,” said Sohanlal, a puppetry artist.

Apart from the puppet show, the fair also had the wonderful combination of camel rides, various sporting events, Indian handicarfts and mouth-watering Rajasthani cuisines.

On Kartik Poornima today thousands of devotees took a holy dip at Pushkar where the only temple to Lord Brahma, creator of the Universe, is situated. Devotees believe that on full moon night of the Hindu month of Kartik, a drop of sacred nectar fell in this lake.
