Centre appointed V Chandrasekhar as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for five years.
According to a personnel ministry order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment to the post of joint director, CBI, for five years.
Chandrasekhar, a 2000 batch Gujarat-cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, had also served in the Central probe agency as the superintendent of police and deputy inspector general.

Earlier four days ago the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointment of senior IPS officer Pravin Madhukar Pawar as the joint director of CBI for five years.
Pawar is a 2003 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Karnataka cadre.
