With 'Bengaluru - Be U', Bangalore joins New York, Singapore in list of global cities with own logo

The brand is aimed at building the city's image on an international platform and boost tourism.

With 'Bengaluru - Be U', Bangalore joins New York, Singapore in list of global cities with own logo

Bangalore joined a select list of global cities, including New York and Singapore by launching its own logo - 'Bengaluru - Be U' (be you). 

Targetted at building the city's image on an international platform and boost tourism, the brand Be U was unveiled in the presence of Bengaluru development minister KJ George, Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao, Shantinagar MLA NA Haris and Bengaluru mayor Sampath Raj on Sunday at Vidhana Soudha. 

According to reports, the logo was selected from 1,350 entries and the was devised by bankers-turned-designers Rushi Patel and M Venkateswara Rao, founders of Nammur, a design firm.

The red and black logo is part English and part Kannada. Besides the English-Kannada logo, there is only-Kannada design too. 

Ahead of the launch Karnatak Chief Minister Siddaramaiah shared a video of the brand on Twitter. "Launching Brand Bengaluru - the most enterprising, dynamic, progressive & glocal city; a city that allows U to be yourself. Participate in the #NammaBengaluruHabba near Vidhan Soudha today, and celebrate Namma Ooru Bengaluru! @PriyankKharge @KarnatakaWorld," he tweeted. 

Priyank Kharge, the minister Minister IT-BT and Tourism, said that the "identity" will "tell the Bengaluru stories across the globe". 

"#NammaBengaluru gets its own identity. A city steeped in history, culture, art, cuisines. A identity that will tell the Bengaluru stories across the globe. #NammaBengaluruHabba," he tweeted.
