Sachin Pilot is a Congress leader and the former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan (2018 to 2020) in the Ashok Gehlot Cabinet. He also held several portfolios in the state including Public Works Department, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Science and Technology and Statistic. In 2014, Pilot beacame the president of the Rajasthan state Congress and remained on the post till 2020 when he was sacked by Congress for his rebellion against Ashok Gehlot and the party leadership. Pilot won the Dausa Lok Sabha constituency, which was represented by his father Rajesh Pilot five times and his mother Rama Pilot once, in 2004 by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Kartar Singh Bhadana with a margin of 1,14,865 votes. In 2009 polls, the Congress party fielded Pilot from the Ajmer constituency. He won the seat by defeating BJP candidate Kiran Maheshwari with a margin of 76,135 votes and became the Minister of State (MoS) for Communications and Information Technology in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet from 2009 to 2012. He became the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Corporate Affairs in 2012. However, he lost the 2014 polls from Ajmer when he was defeated by BJP's Sanwar Lal Jat with a big margin of 1,71,983 votes. In the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly Election, Pilot won the Tonk constituency by defeating BJP's Yoonus Khan with a margin of 54,179 votes. Pilot is again contesting from Tonk in the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023.
