New Delhi: Delhi Police has traced the whereabouts of absconding Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and former law minister Somnath Bharti to Meerut, a Hindustan Times report said.

According to the report, the AAP MLA , who is on the run to evade arrest in domestic violence case, was in Meerut and Delhi Police has already dispatched a team to the arrest him.

"Bharti is behaving like a professional criminal and his conduct shows that either he is himself capable of thinking like one or he is taking help of others who have expertise in crime," Joint Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Dependra Pathak told PTI

"We have information about at least two individuals with long criminal records who have been helping the legislator from the very first day," said Pathak.

Meanwhile, a team of policemen took Bharti's ailing dog to a veterinarian.

The dog suffers a heart ailment and has been on medication for some time now.

"When we learnt that the dog has not received medicines since its master went missing, we sent cops from the local district and asked them to get the dog examined," said a senior police officer.

Bharti's wife Lipka Mitra has accused the former law minister of battering her after their fights, even setting his dog on her on one instance.

Supreme Court will hear his anticipatory bail application on Monday. Bharti moved the highest court after the Delhi High Court rejected his pre-arrest bail application recently.
