New Delhi: After sweeping Delhi assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party has started to eye states like Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. AAP had won four Lok Sabha seats last year, all coming from Punjab.

Bhagwant Mann, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Sangrur told Economic Times, "Punjab is waiting to embrace us with open arms".

"Our victory in Delhi had emboldened the hopes of people of Punjab who have been robbed of their rights by both the BJP-Akali Dal combine and Congress," Added Mann.

The comedian-turned-politician, who claims to have held 121 jan sabhas, 35 road shows, 14 padyatras and 57 debates, will spearhead AAP campaign in Punjab.

The party plans to launch Mission 'Punjab bolda hai' ('Punjab speaks') with full vigour, involving the students wing, youth wing and women wing of the party.

Emboldened by its landslide victory in Delhi AAP is also planning to contest 2017 Assembly elections in UP.

"The results of Delhi assembly elections are an indication of the people's dislike for caste and divisive politics. It has given political alternative and AAP will contest the 2017 elections in UP,” said AAP spokesman Vaibhav Maheshwari.

Apart from Punjab and UP, the Aam Aadmi party also plans to focus on Bihar.
