As the NDA government completed its third anniversary today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people for giving the opportunity to serve as “pradhan sevak” and said that time has come to build a new India of development and progress.

“Want to express my heartfelt gratitude to people of the country, they let us form a government, gave me opportunity as a 'pradhan sevak'”, the PM said at a event here.

Accusing the previous governments of following the British-era mistrust, he said the BJP has a different style of working. "Our government trusts the people. That's our strength," he said.

He said his government is working to bring rapid development to all corners of India. "Every corner of India is like Delhi for us," Modi said, stressing that every part of the country would get the same attention as they deserve.

“Every one in this country are with us. We have taken tough decisions but they did not falter and supported us. They gave us strength to strive harder.

“Some people ask me how I get the strength to work for long hours ..it is their love that inspires me to work hard,” the PM said at an event to mark BJP's pan-India anniversary festival in Guwahati.

PM Modi said he has given a detailed account of the efforts of the NDA government to transform agriculture and the efforts to double farmer incomes by 2022.

"By 2022, we want to double our farmers' income. Through 'Sampada Yojana' we want to ensure value addition of agri-products," Modi said.

Referring to the issue of black money hoarded by the corrupt, PM Modi said that the law against illegal properties was created in 1988 but it took 28 years to get it notified.

“But now the poor and the honest are happy because they have faith in our government,” Modi said.

“In the last three years, we have given foremost priority to trusting the citizens,” he said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi announced a gift for the northeast on the third anniversary of the NDA government – country's longest bridge over the River Lohit in Assam, naming it after the region’s beloved singer Bhupen Hazarika.

PM Modi said it will serve as a foundation for a new economic revolution and help India in its efforts to become a superpower.

Dedicating the 9.15 km-long bridge to the nation, he said it will connect and bring closer the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

He also announced that the government has decided to name the bridge after singer Bhupen Hazarika, who hailed from Sadia.

"The bridge will not only save money, reduce travel time but it comes as a foundation for the beginning of a new economic revolution. That's why the whole nation has its eyes on this bridge", Modi said here on third anniversary of his government.

"The shortening of distance by 165 km, reducing travel time by 7-8 hours will open new doors to economic development", he said.

The Rs 2,056 crore bridge is 3.55 km longer than the Bandra-Worli Sea link.

He said, "The bridge will bring development to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. For fulfilling India's dream of becoming a top economically developed nation, a superpower, then the North Eastern region is the place to begin with", he said.

"If development is to be made permanent, then infrastructure is the first requirement. It is on the two tracks of physical infrastructure and social infrastructure that complete development is achieved," Modi said.

The prime minister said the government has been striving for long lasting development by creating permanent infrastructure for fulfilling the dreams of the nation.

PM Modi said, "This bridge will also open new road for the high quality North East ginger grown by farmers of the region and improve their economic condition. If they take to organic ginger farming, a global market will open up to them".
