Bihar polls: BJP-Jitan Ram Manjhi seal seat sharing deal

New Delhi: In a fresh development, it is learnt that the BJP and former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi have sealed seat sharing agreement for the upcoming Bihar assembly polls.

Sources said that Hindustani Avam Morcha (Secular) agreed to BJP's offer of 20 seats to it.

UN adopts text-based negotiations on Security Council reforms

United Nations: The UN General Assembly today adopted a negotiating text by consensus for the long-pending Security Council reforms, setting the stage for talks on the issue at its 70th session beginning tomorrow, boosting India's bid for a permanent seat in the revamped world body.  

Wholesale Price Index dips to historic -4.95%; pressure on RBI to cut rate

New Delhi: Deflationary trend continued for 10th month in a row with WPI inflation plunging to a historic low of (-)4.95 per cent in August on cheaper commodities, a development that may prompt RBI to cut rates later this month.

But for onion and pulses, wholesale prices of most of the food articles either declined or showed a very marginal increase during the month.

Nepal rejects Hindu nation calls; protesters, police clash

Kathmandu, Nepal:  Nepal's Constituent Assembly rejected calls to revert the Himalayan nation back to a Hindu state during voting Monday on a draft of the country's long-delayed new constitution, sparking violent protests.

Nepal was a Hindu nation for centuries when kings ruled, but has been a secular state since the monarchy was abolished in 2006.

Gujarat best state to do business in India, Delhi ranks 15th

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat has ranked at the top of an evaluation of state implementation of business reforms  according to a report published by World Bank.In other words, Gujarat tops in the ease of doing business ranking.

Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are the remaining states in the top five.
