New Delhi, Jan 1 : Delhi Police arrested  a 37-year-old man named Rajesh for planting two ‘bombs' made of explosive material used for making firecrackers near the house of driver Ram Singh, the main accused in the gangrape case in Ravi Dass camp near R K Puram on Monday night.

Rajesh was arrested from Ravi Dass colony last evening when he was trying to flee from the spot after planting the explosives. His two friends managed to flee from the spot.

They were seen loitering in the area by locals in a suspicious manner and had allegedly threatened to blow up the house of Ram Singh.

One of the accused was overpowered by the crowd but two managed to escape and police was informed.

The two bombs were defused by a Bomb Disposal Squad. One policeman suffered minor injuries during the operation.

A local resident Ravi Kumar said: ‘There were three persons, of whom one had an explosive with him. The man was saying that he was going to blow up the locality.  Why are we being victimized for what Ram Singh did? The people living here are afraid even to go out.”

Local municipal councillor Radhey Shyam said: “I got information that they (attackers) were from JNU.  The people of the slum cluster here are against the rapists.
Because of today's attack, the entire locality is now living in fear.”

In the wake of the attack, security has been tightened in the slum cluster where Ram Singh's brickhouse is presently located.

Ram Singh and four other accused are presently in Tihar Jail, while the sixth, a minor is in custody at the juvenile home.
