Lucknow: Blaming the Centre for the power crises in UP, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today claimed the state was not getting its alloted quota and took a jibe at BJP, saying why it had not raised the state's share after winning the Lok Sabha election.

“UP is not getting its quota of 1000 MW from the Centre.  Also, beacuse pf lack of coal supply, power units in the state are generating less power”, Yadav told reporters in reply to a question regarding power supply.

He said that state was working with its own resources in the sector and power supply will increase in the next two-three days.

Taking a potshot on BJP, the chief minister said, “A party has won a number of seats in UP but it has not increased power quota of the state. Those who have won should also work and raise their voice”.

Mentioning the hunger strike by BJP legislator Shyamdeo Roy Chowdhury in Varanasi, Akhilesh said, “I asked him to end the strike. At that time, he assured me that the power quota of the state will be increased but nothing has happened”.

When asked about booing of Haryana and Jharkhand Chief Ministers during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programme, Yadav said till now he had not yet faced the situation.  “I am the CM of the state, where his (Modi's) constituency is located. His relations with me will have to be different,” he quipped.
