New Delhi: Millionaire 'Goldman' Datta Phuge, a 32-year-old moneylender from the Pimpri-Chinchwad city of Pune, is believed to have spent a whooping Rs 1 crore 27 lakh on his custom-made gold shirt. Crafted out of 3.5kg of 22-carat solid gold, the shirt created by Pune-based Ranka Jewelers has 14,000 gold flowerings that have been interwoven with 100,000 spangles sewn into a base of finest white velvet.
The golden shirt comes with its own matching cuffs and a set of rings crafted from left-over gold. The shirt has six Swarovski buttons and an intricate gold belt to complete the look.
Reports suggest that 15 goldsmiths worked 18-hours a day for 15 days to create this shiny shirt. The gold shirt also set the new world record for the “most expensive shirt”, according to the World Record Academy.
