The Pakistan all-rounder also backed India to win the four-match Test series against Australia Down Under.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi heaped praise on Team India captain Virat Kohli but added that he needs to follow Mahendra Singh Dhoni's example as a captain.

Speaking exclusively to IndiaTV, Afridi said that Dhoni changed Indian cricket as a captain and Kohli should follow his footsteps to become a successful captain.

"As a captain, Virat needs to win a series abroad. I keep saying that how Dhoni has changed the course of Indian cricket as a captain and as a player, it's the perfect example for Virat to follow," Afridi said.

However, the 38-year-old feels that Kohli is phenomenal and his records speak for itself.

"Virat's records speak for himself, it just shows what a player he his. The most impressive thing I've seen about Virat is that he even takes the nets as a match, so whatever he does in the nets, he displays it in the match.

"He takes the responsibility upon himself and it seems like he loves to face the challenges ahead," Afridi said.

And when asked about Dhoni playing the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales next year, Afridi said: "If Dhoni is fit and willing to play, he should definitely be in the Indian squad for the World Cup."

The Pakistan all-rounder also backed India to win the four-match Test series against Australia Down Under.

"India can win the series Down Under because Australia doesn't have the team that they used to. India have a superb batting line-up and they have improved their bowling as well," Afridi said.

Afridi is currently playing for the Pakhtoons in the T10 league and he says that this format suits his style of playing and he is happy to see players adapting to the shortest format of the game with time.

"For me, I already started T10, I played according to my strengths and my natural game. I feel happy to see players performing well, their optimism is inspiring. Like (Eoin) Morgan, between last season and this one, he has played brilliantly, I feel that even he is surprised to see himself play this well," Afridi said.

However, according to him, Test cricket remains the supreme format and it should be promoted more to attract more people.

"I still feel that Test is the supreme format of the sport, the audience for Test have reduced in numbers but it should be promoted often which will eventually bring in people to witness," Afridi said before signing off.
