BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Thursday alleged the United States was putting pressure on India to enter into talks with Pakistan despite Islamabad having ignored New Delhi's demand to stop letting terror networks using its soil, post-26/11.

"There is no need for a dialogue till Pakistan wind up terror projects being operated from its turf to spread terrorism in our country... but India is talking to them under the pressure of US," Joshi told a news conference here.

"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram have always maintained after the Mumbai attack that talks with Pakistan could be held only if it rooted out the terror infrastructure directed at India... but now they are doing contrary to what they had said," he added.

Joshi said Vajpayee government's message to Pakistan that talks was possible only after a written assurance that it had stopped letting terror networks using its turf against India.

He also criticised America for allegedly trying to wriggle out from Afghanistan and "helping Pakistan in its effort to get India out of Kabul".

"Now there is a move of a nuclear deal between China and Pakistan...we should be doubly cautious and equip ourselves so that we can guard against any adversity," the former HRD minister said. PTI
