Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a ride on the Delhi Metro to engage with the common people on Thursday. A photograph of Gandhi travelling in the metro has gone viral on social media.

He interacted with common people while travelling in the metro and posed for pictures with them. He was on his way to a rally in Mangolpuri, accompanied by Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress candidate from the North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat. Voting in Delhi is scheduled for May 25, and today is the last day of campaigning.

Election is fight to safeguard Constitution: Rahul Gandhi

The Congress leader accused the BJP of consistently wanting to "tear and throw away" the Constitution, emphasising that the current Lok Sabha elections are a battle to protect it. Speaking at an election rally in Dilshad Garden, northeast Delhi today, in support of party candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, he asserted that the BJP has always sought to alter the Constitution.

"These people (BJP) have always wanted to tear and throw it (Constitution) away. They never accepted neither the Indian Constitution nor the Indian flag. In this election finally they have accepted that they want to change it," he charged.

"In this election, the fight is for safeguarding the Indian Constitution. It is not simply a book, our Constitution carries thousands of years of ideological heritage of Gandhi, Ambedkar and Nehru ji," the Congress leader said.

The former Congress president stated that the BJP has finally "accepted" its desire to change the Constitution in this election. He warned that if the BJP attempts to alter the Constitution, it will face opposition from both political adversaries and millions of citizens. "I want to tell them (BJP) you don't have the dare to do it (change Constitution). You will have to face us and the cores of people of India if you attempt it," Gandhi added.

Voting on all seven seats in Delhi will be held on May 25. The results of the elections will be announced on June 4.
