Bilaspur: Skipper Perveez Rasool did the star turn for his side by scoring an unbeaten 69 after dismissing two batsmen as Jammu and Kashmir pipped Services by three wickets in their North Zone match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, here today.

The hosts restricted the Services to 236 for nine after inviting them to bat and then overhauled the target with five balls to spare as Rasool guided the side with a responsible knock off 84 balls at Luhnu cricket ground.

Rajat Paliwal top scored for the Services with a 61-run knock while Nakul Verma scored 56. Suraj Yadav batted splendidly down the order with a fiery 22-ball 46.

Mehjoor Ali was the most successful bowler for J&K with three for 47 in his 10 overs.

It was not the best of starts for the hosts as they lost Ahmad Omar Banday (2) in the second ball of their chase. Services paceman Suraj Yadav trapped the opener.

However, Ian Chauhan (67) and Adil Reshi (36) kept the Services bowlers at bay for the next 20 overs, raising a 101-run stand for the second wicket.

It was Yadav again in action as he dismissed Reshi.

Soon J&K lost two quick wickets as Chauhan was trapped by Narinder Kumar and Hardeep Singh (0) was caught off Avishek Sinha without troubling the scorer.

Rasool then came to the rescue of the team and along with Bandeep Singh (28) he raised a 89-run stand to bring the side closer to the win.

After losing Bandeep, who became second victim of Avishek Sinha, the hosts lost two more wickets but Rasool kept the one end and guided the side to the finish line.

Brief Scores:

Services: 236 for 9 in 50 overs (Rajat Paliwal 61, Nakul Verma 56; Mehjoor Ali 3/47, Ram Dayal 2/47).

J&K: 237 for 7 in 49.1 overs.(Perveez Rasool 69, Ian Chauhan 67; Avishek Sinha 3/33, Suraj Yadav 2/67).
