Raipur : Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today lashed out at the BJP saying that big rhetoric from its leaders (read Narendra Modi) cannot bring the party to power.
Addressing a rally at Raipur Indoor stadium, Dr Singh charged the BJP government in Chhattisgarh of having failed to prevent the massacre of Congress leaders in Jeeram Ghati by Maoists.
"The sacrifices of our leaders will not go in vain", said the Prime Minister, as he read out in Hindi from a written speech.
Dr Singh debunked Narendra Modi's claims about the BJP government in Chhattisgarh, saying that the state's literacy rate and per capita income were below the national average, and infant and maternal mortality rates were above the national average.
"People in Chhattisgarh are feeling insecured because of Maoists, and the work of development has come to a standstill", said Dr Singh.
"Big rhetoric can't bring anybody to power. Congress is the party of the aam aadmi", he added.
