New Delhi: India's most wanted terrorist and Mumbai terror attacks mastermind, Hafiz Saeed, is attempting to push militants into Jammu and Kashmir ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit to New Delhi to attend Republic Day celebrations.
As per the reports, the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief has set up two control rooms in different places including Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir, to coordinate with militants.
Massive security arrangements have been put in place to guard US President Barack Obama, the person having highest threat perception in the world, during his three day India visit. As part of the plan, Delhi Police is installing 15,000 CCTV cameras for Republic Day which will have US President Barack Obama as the chief guest. Over 45,000 personnel from Delhi Police and paramilitary forces will also be on the streets of the capital on January 26, officials said.
It is believed that Obama's immediate security, comprising of two layers, will remain in the hands of chosen US secret service agents and the elite Green Berets, US's special forces soldiers. The other outer rings will comprise of Indian elite forces that include commandos drawn from the elite special protection group (SPG) tasked to guard PM and former PMs, national security guards (NSG) meant for Z plus security for VVIPs having high threat perception, handpicked commandos from paramilitary forces and Delhi Police.
In the border state, the Indian side has stepped up security along the International Border (IB) after several intelligence reports suggested that terror organisations like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) may launch attacks to create furore among locals.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has deployed at least 12 additional companies at the Indo-Pak Border to guard the boundary line.
Meanwhile, the US has also asked Pakistan to ensure that there is no cross-border terror incident during the trip and subtly warned of ‘consequences' if any such attack is traced back to the country. The warning was issued keeping the track record of Pakistan-based militant groups that have carried out attacks in India coinciding with high-profile visits from the US.
Obama will travel to New Delhi later this week to attend the Republic Day parade on January 26, the first US President to do so. The US and Indian security agencies are extra cautious this time as Obama will be on an open air platform at Rajpath for more than two hours, witnessing the parade.
The US President will also be visiting Taj Mahal in Agra.
