New Delhi: A class VII student was set on fire by unidentified persons at Enugonda village in Mahbubnagar district of Telangana last night.

The incident took place  in the premises of Anand Nilayam government hostel when the victim Narendar, a resident of Narayanpeta, went out for nature's call.

According to the victim, two persons came out of the bushes and poured kerosene on him and set him on fire.

The victim's screams were heard by other students, the cook and watchman who ran to the spot and extinguished the fire and took the victim to the hospital.

The victim who had suffered third degree burns was then referred to Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad.

The hostel authorities suspect the involvement of some students in the incident, as Narendar had allegedly stolen money from them on Monday.

The  police, however, is investigating the matter from all angles.
