ASI Rajesh Meena was assaulted by criminals of liquor and drug mafia at the Rai Ka Bagh bus station on Friday night, when he had asked them to leave the place, police said.
Instead of leaving, they attacked Meena with barbed iron wire wrapped around a thick club and smashed his head badly, they said, adding that he was rushed to hospital immediately, where he was put on life-support system.
"He did not regain consciousness and succumbed to injuries today afternoon," a police official said.
