New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, police has informed Delhi High Court that 1,704 cases of rape were registered in the Capital in the first 10 months of year 2014 and 215 of these were cases of incestuous rape. The court was further informed that in 43 cases of incestuous rape, the accused are fathers of the victims while in 27 such cases, the accused are the brothers.  

In one of these cases the accused even turned out to be the victim's grandfather whereas in another 23 rape cases the stepfather was the accused to do this heinous crime.

It can be seen from the report that in majority of the rape cases, the offender was a person who was familiar to the victim. Not to forget even the father-in-laws were found to be involved in eight cases, son-in-law in three cases, and brother-in-law in 74 cases.

Even, uncle or maternal uncles were involved in 32 cases, and in four cases the accused turned out to be a cousin.
