New Delhi, Nov 28: Tata Motors 1.24 per cent on Wednesday announced its foray into Bangladesh passenger car market with the launch of its three models -- sedans Indigo eCS and Indigo Manza and hatchback Indica Vista.

"Tata Motors today made its maiden entry in the Bangladesh new car market, introducing two sedans and a hatchback," the homegrown auto major said in a statement.

To begin with, the vehicles will be available in Dhaka with a single showroom and three other cities will be covered with one showroom each by 2013, it added.

"We are happy and honoured to enter Bangladesh with our passenger cars. Our 40-year association with Bangladesh has given us an insight into the aspiration of the country's motorists," Tata Motors Managing Director Karl Slym said.

Tata Motors has been present in Bangladesh with its range of commercial vehicles since 1972, he added.

The Mumbai-based auto major has appointed NITOL Motors as its distributors for the Bangladesh market.

"Our association with Tata Motors goes back over two decades and we are extremely happy that in addition to commercial vehicles, Tata Motors has now placed their confidence in us to market their passenger cars and utility vehicles," NITOL Motors Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmad said.

"There are about 53,000 Tata commercial vehicles on Bangladesh roads. The company is today the market leader with a 70 per cent market share," the company said.
