Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire thrice yesterday, a day after full implementation of 2003 ceasefire pact earnestly in a bid to ensure peace on both the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, as per Pakistan's request.
The clashes, which lasted almost eight hours, forced the authorities to shift civilians from border villages in Pargwal and Kanachak sub-sectors to safer places out of the line of fire, with police using bulletproof vehicles in at least 30 villages.
At least 13 civilians have been injured in the firing. "We are fully prepared to face any situation. Thirteen civilians are injured but their morale is high, we have made full arrangements to vacate people from vulnerable areas," IGP Jammu SD Singh told media.
