Mahendra Singh Dhoni showed his love and patriotism towards his country in the last T20I match against New Zealand.

In the first innings when India were bowling, a fan of Dhoni ran on to the field with Indian flag towards him. Then the individual touched Dhoni's feet and suddenly the wicketkeeper-batsman snatched the Indian flag from him, which was about to touch the ground.

In the series of events, Dhoni stayed calm and fans respect for him went sky high for his patriotic gesture.

The former India skipper was playing his 300th T20 match and joined the elite list of 13 players with the likes of Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Brendon McCullum, Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, Ryan ten Doeschate, Dwayne Smith, Albie Morkel, Ravi Bopara, Sunil Narine, Sohail Tanvir and Luke Wright.

In the professional front, it was a bad day for the veteran with the bat as he only managed to score 2 runs and India lost the series decider by four runs as New Zealand snatched the series by 2-1.

But his work behind the wickets was on point as he destroyed Tim Seifert stumps to provide the first breakthrough for India on Kuldeep Yadav's delivery.

After the match, India stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma was fumed with the team's performance in the last T20I

"Pretty disappointing to not get to the finishing line. 210-odd was always going to be tough, and we were in the game right till the end, but New Zealand held their nerve well and they deserved to win," Rohit said.

"We started off well in the ODIs, and the boys will be disappointed not getting to the finishing line in the T20s," he added.
