Live Cricket Score, Sri Lanka vs England, 2nd Test, Day 3: Dananjaya runs through lower-order after Root hundred

As we call it in cricket, Day 3 is always known as a moving day where we get to know which team will have a firm grip on the match going forward. After an exciting couple of days of cricket, the Lankans are ahead at the moment taking a decent lead on Day 2. With the pitch breaking up, there could see more turn and low bounce today.

The visitors will have a tough task today to hang in. The batters will need to be patient today and get runs whenever a loose ball is bowled.

Captain Joe Root needs a big score today as he has been not at his best this series.

Pitch report: 20 wickets have fallen in two days and the pitch is breaking up slowly. There will be more turn as the game progresses as the cracks open up further.

Brief Day 2 report:

Sri Lanka fought back admirably against England thanks to a back-to-the-wall 85 by Roshen Silva to earn a first-innings lead of 46 runs in the second Test on Thursday.

However, Silva's failure to ground his bat and run short conceded a rare five penalty runs to England.

Sri Lanka was all out for 336 in reply to England's 285, boosted to 290 with the penalty runs at Pallekele International Stadium.

England faced just one over before stumps on day two and promoted Jack Leach to open the innings. The nightwatchman negotiated six deliveries from Dilruwan Perera without further drama on a day where momentum swung both ways.
