Saqib Saleem and Harrdy Sandhu join Ranveer Singh’s 83 starcast
Ranveer Singh starrer cricket legend Kapil Dev’s biopic named 83 has been ruling the buzz market for a long time now. While the presence of Singh has excited the fans much to eagerly wait for the film, actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj and others have also joined the cast. Now the latest reports suggest that Race 3 actor Saqib Saleem and Punjabi superstar Harrdy Sandhu are all set to join the star cast of Kabir Khan’s 83.
Going by the reports in Mumbai Mirror, Saqib and Harrdy will be portraying former cricketers Mohinder Amarnath and Madan Lal, respectively in the film. The two cricketers have played an important part in the 1983 World Cup win. While Mohinder Amarnath has been known to be an all-rounder and was also the Man of the Match in the semifinals and finals, Madan Lal became a household name for taking the significant wicket of Sir Vivian Richards during the final match against West Indies.
Interestingly, both Saqib and Harrdy have played the game professionally when they were younger. While Punjabi singer Harrdy Sandhu was a part of the Under-19 team for Punjab, Saqib has played for the Delhi cricket team at the state level. This definitely makes them the perfect choice to play the roles. Also, Kabir Khan’s 83 will mark the debut of Harrdy Sandhu into Bollywood.
The reports also suggest that the star cast of the film will start filming in May and will be shot primarily in London and Scotland. Not many days have gone by that it was revealed that actor Pankaj Tripathi will also be a part of the film and will play the role of the cricket team’s then manager Man Singh. Talking about Pankaj Tripathi, director Kabir Khan said, “An actor I’m so excited to work with… He’s going to be our “Man Bhai”- the unsung hero of 1983!”
The much-awaited film will release on April 10, 2020. "83" is produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri and Khan, and presented by Reliance Entertainment.
