More and more skeletons were recovered which one after the other were identified, some by Koli and some by villagers. In initial phase of investigation, it was speculated that the motive behind the killings could be organ trade. But it was later ruled out.

After it was proved that the police had shown negligent behavior towards the complaints of the villagers and the pressure from the central government arose day-by-day, the responsibility of further investigations was handed over to CBI.

As the investigations went on, more human remains were found each day.

After numerous charges were framed against Moninder Singh and Koli of rape and murder, trials went on and the case was termed as rarest of the rare. Both were found guilty and till 2012 Koli was given death sentences in 5 cases.

After interrogations and gathering of evidences, the police derived the conclusion and termed Koli as a ``psychopath''.

The post mortem reports of the human remains unraveled a pattern that was being followed in the serial killings; all the bodies were first cut into 3 pieces and then disposed off in the back side of Moninder Singh's house.


The case left a deep impact on the villagers. Now children in the area are not free to move outside thier houses. Fearing for their child's life, parents now do not abandon their kid in the area.
