Prague: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad today accused France of supporting terrorism and not committed to peace.

In an interview to a news channel, Assad said that he is open to sign any future peace deal to end his country's four-year civil war.

When asked about the venue, Assad said that he sees Prague as a possible venue for signing the deal because of its balanced position.

"Naturally, if you ask Syrians they will tell you they don't want a peace conference in France because France supports terrorism and war, not peace," he said.

France has been carrying out airstrikes against terror outfit ISIS in Iraq and Syria as part of a US-led coalition.

The US and France have described Assad as a butcher of his own people and are adamant that he must step down to restore peace in the country.

Last week, France President Francois Hollande had reiterated his determination to see Assad step down in order to give Syria a chance for peace.

Syria's conflict began as a peaceful pro-democracy revolt in 2011 that later morphed into a multi-front civil war after Assad's regime unleashed a brutal crackdown against dissent.
