In an unprecedented move, President-elect Donald Trump today said that he would like to have Nigel Farage, leader of the Brexit movement, as the next British Ambassador to the United States.
"Many people would like to see @Nigel_Farage represent Great Britain as their Ambassador to the United States. He would do a great job!" Mr Trump said in a tweet today.
It is one of the rarest occasion that a foreign leader has indicated his favourite picture of a diplomatic envoy from other country.
Mr Trump and Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party, share a very good relationship.
Farage, a key figure in the Brexit movement, was the first British politician to meet with Trump after he won the Presidential election. . He had also helped Mr Trump prepare for debate.
Farage also posted a picture on Facebook and Twitter of him with Trump. “It was a great honour to spend time with Donald Trump today. He was relaxed, and full of good ideas. I’m confident he will be a good President,” read the photo caption.
He had said that he is not for an ambassadorial posting. The British leader is likely to attend the January 20 inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States.
