Forty-year old Sonia Verma had visited her neighbour Parminder Singh's house to ask him why he had beaten up her 10-year old son Tarun.
Infuriated with the confrontation, Parminder shot down Sonia from a close point which led to her death on the spot.
Parminder, who was reportedly drunk, also fired at a passerby who tried to come for Sonia's rescue. Parminder instantly fled the place along with his pistol.
Police visited the crime scene and said, the killer will be nabbed soon. A manhunt has been launched for Parminder.
Sonia's husband was out of town when the incident took place.
