New Delhi: Disgraced over the public humiliation meted out to her by one of her female teacher, a 15-year-old schoolgirl committed suicide by drinking phenyl and later hanging herself with a ceiling fan at her residence in Titagarh area of North 24-Parganas district in West Bengal.

According to police, last week a female teacher had humiliated her publicly for allegedly having an affair with a male teacher. The victim, a class 9 student of a convent school located at Mira Road, complaint to the school authorities but they ignored her plea and scolded her for the same.

Police said that she was found hanging from the ceiling of her room at around 1.30 pm on Friday when she was alone in the house. The girl was rushed to a local hospital, Barrackpore BN Bose Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

A case was registered against five teachers of the school for assault and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, police said.

After initial inquiries, police arrested the victim's boyfriend and his parents. The boy's father is a police constable posted in Nadia district.

Senior police inspector Anil Kadam from Kashimira police station said that no attempt to suicide case has been registered yet.
