Yesterday, Prajapati, an ayurvedic doctor, was shot twice by unidentified men outside his clinic here. Though he sustained a bullet injury in the neck, he was now out of danger, doctors at Rajkot civil hospital said.
As he was unable to speak, he wrote the names of six persons who he suspected to be behind the attack on a piece of paper and gave it to the police.
Rajkot police commissioner Mohan Jha has ordered a manhunt to nab the assailants.
B D Rabari, ACP (Crime), said a police team had gone to Ahmedabad for further investigation while CCTV footage near the spot was being examined.
Prajapati's wife, Sarojben, alleged that Asaram's henchmen were behind the attack, and appealed the Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi to ensure action against him.
Prajapati was once Asaram's associate, but later he fell out with him.
