New Delhi: Two men have been arrested for allegedly robbing a delivery agent of Rs 27 lakh in North Delhi's Kashmere Gate area last month, police said yesterday.

The victim, identified as Ram Prakash (40), had allegedly committed suicide six days after the incident.

The two accused, identified as Sanjay and Subhash were arrested from Bihar and around Rs 3 lakhs cash was recovered from their possession.

“The incident took place on October 10 when Prakash was walking from Kashmere Gate toward Chandni Chowk area with the bag filled with cash.

Four motorcycle-borne miscreants intercepted him, thrashed him and fled with the bag,” said a police official.

The victim had told police that the robbers had their faces covered so he could not identify him.

“Six days after the incident Prakash committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan at his residence. His family told police that he considered himself responsible for the robbery,” he added.

Police identified the culprits through CCTV footages of the area following which a team was sent to Bihar which arrested the two accused.

Two of their associates are absconding and efforts are on to nab them, police said.
