There has been somewhat of turmoil in the Indian automobile industry with the Supreme Court's recent decision to ban the diesel cars in the country that have an engine capacity of 2000cc or above.
There is still panic and doubts over the future even though the ban or rather stop on the registration process is for a trial period of three months. Most of the major names under the category have suffered quite an impact and have succumbed under the ban but there are a few names who have survived the pandemonium by a narrow margin.
1.Chevrolet Cruze – Engine Displacement 1998cc
With an engine capacity of 1998cc, Chevrolet Cruze came incredibly close to getting the SC Ban and had the vehicle been backed by 2cc more, it surely would have suffered the same fate.
The vehicle has been enormously successful though which means an escape on its ban would be augured well with a lot of existing and potential customers.
The popular diesel car has a lean yet muscular appearance which in combination with a more than satisfactory performance, has enabled it to perform fairly well in the Indian market.
2.Volkswagen Jetta – Engine Displacement 1968cc
Volkswagen Jetta will continue to traumatize its competitors as the 1969cc engine featuring vehicle survives the ban from SC. Jetta was probably the most vulnerable car under Volkswagen's portfolio as far as the succumbing to the imposition of the ban is concerned.
However, this would certainly act as a wake-up call for the legendary automaker as their recent sales performance has not been up to the mark.
