Four dead, 7 injured as mini vehicle and bus collide in UP's Lakhimpur

As told by CO City Ramesh Tiwari, a UP roadways bus was going towards Behraich while the mini vehicle was coming from the opposite side. All the injured have been taken to the hospital, six are reported to be in critical condition.

Five people, including a child, died on Sunday in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur-Kheri. The collision occurred between a mini vehicle and a UP roadways bus on the Nakaha-Shankarpur highway under Kheri Police Station area.

According to the police, eight people have also been injured in the tragic accident, six of whom are in critical condition.

Giving details about the accident, CO City Ramesh Tiwari said that the accident happened near Nakaha while a UP roadways bus was going towards Behraich while the mini vehicle was going opposite side towards Lakhimpur.

He said, “This accident happened between a mini vehicle and a roadways bus... Four people have died, including a child. At least seven people are injured, including six severely injured.”  

The injured are being taken to the hospital. CO City said, “Four people have reached the hospital, and the remaining are on their way..."

Kheri District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh and Superintendent of Police Ganesh Prasad Saha rushed the spot and took stock of the situation. They also visited the district hospital and reviewed the injured persons' treatment by the medical staff.

Tragic accident in Shahjahanpur

Earlier on May 25, 12 people died after a bus collided with a truck in Shahjahanpur. In addition to that, 10 other people got injured in the accident. The incident happened in Hajiyapur under the Khutar Police Station area. 

According to Shahjahanpur SP Ashok Kumar Meena, at around 11 PM, police got the information that a bus was parked and devotees who were going to Purnagiri were sitting inside the bus while others were having food at a Dhaba. A dumper truck laden with gravels lost control and turned turtle on top of the bus in which 11 people died and 10 were injured. All injured were admitted to hospital.

Later, President Droupadi Murmu and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid condolences to the families of the deceased. The CM also directed the district administration to ensure the treatment of the injured.
