African swine fever news: Kannur district officials on Monday (August 1) told media that one case of African swine fever was reported from the district yesterday.
Initially, pigs available within the one-kilometre radius of the farm will be executed and buried to contain the spread of the disease, sources revealed.
This research is “a significant step,” said Dr. Andrew Adams of the University of Minnesota Medical School, who was not part of the work.
In July this year, several media reports said large number of pigs are dying from African swine fever in China's top hog-producing province.
Four pigs and half a dozen piglets were seen in a corridor of a state-run hospital in Karnataka's northern Kalaburagi district, an official admitted on Sunday.
Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora on Thursday informed that about 14,919 pigs have died of the African Swine flu in the state. He said the government has demanded ₹144 crores for the culling of pigs in Assam.
