Chidambaram, who was on Tuesday granted bail from Supreme Court in the INX media corruption case, continues to be in ED custody since October 17.
The relief from the Supreme Court for Chidambaram came on Tuesday -- around two months after he was arrested.
The court also issued summons to all other accused charge-sheeted in the case. However, the date of their appearance will be given later.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that the person, who knows crucial facts related to the case has stated that he was being influenced and intimidated by Chidambaram when he was not arrested.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed chargesheet against former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram with Delhi court in INX media case on Friday. Chargesheet names 14 accused, including Karti Chidambaram and Indrani Mukherjee.
Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram will be interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate in the INX Media money laundering case till October 24. A Delhi Court sent Chidambaram in ED custody on Thursday and allowed him certain facilities. Chidambaram has been granted permission to have home-cooked food, western toilet, medicines, separate cell during his ED custody.
Earlier today, officials of the Enforcement Directorate had visited the Tihar jail to interrogate P Chidambaram in the INX Media case.
A team of ED officials on Wednesday reached the Tihar Jail here to question former Union finance minister P Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case, officials said.
A Delhi Court on Tuesday allowed Enforcement Directorate (ED) to interrogate Congress leader P Chidambaram for 30 minutes in connection with INX media case.
The plea was vehemently opposed by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Chidambaram, who said that the CBI has already taken remand and ED has no ground since the offence is same.
Chidambaram, who is in judicial custody till October 17 in the INX Media corruption case filed by the CBI, was produced before special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar.
Both are accused in the Sheena Bora murder case and are in jail under judicial custody since their arrest in 2015. While Indrani is lodged in Byculla women's prison, Peter Mukerjea has been kept at the nearby Arthur Road jail in central Mumbai.
Finally, some "ghar ka khana" for Chidambaram is on its way. Now that Former Finance Minister has got approval of a Delhi court, Chidambaram will now be able to relish home-cooked food in Tihar jail once daily. The Congress leader has been permitted on grounds of his medical condition.
Former finance minister P Chidambaram on Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking bail in the INX Media corruption case. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Chidambaram, mentioned the matter for urgent listing before a bench headed by Justice N V Ramana.
The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's bail plea in the INX Media corruption case. The court, infact, had some hard-hitting remarks to make on the denial of former finance minister's bail. Chidambaram, 74, has been in custody since his arrest by the CBI on August 21.
He is currently lodged in Tihar jail under CBI judicial custody.
The citizens in their petition have claimed that the INX Media case is "bogus" and said it has been a month since Chidambaram's arrest by the CBI but it is yet to file a charge sheet in the case.
hidambaram's lawyer have submitted a rejoinder in Delhi High Court stating that 'there is no loss to the public exchequer in this case. No public funds were involved in this case and it is not a case of bank fraud or taking money out of the country'
The CBI on Friday opposed in the Delhi High Court the bail plea of Congress leader P Chidambaram in the INX Media corruption case, saying the magnitude of financial embezzlement and misuse of high public office disentitles him for any relief.
