Xiaomi India managing director Manu Kumar Jain took it up on Twitter to tease the new upcoming selfie-centric smartphone under the Y series that could be the successor to the existing Redmi Y2, which was launched last year. The company hasn't revealed the name of the smartphone, but going by the rumours, the phone could be the Redmi Y3.

According to the tweet, the upcoming Redmi Y series smartphone could come with a 32 Megapixel selfie camera in comparison to the Redmi Y2 that comes with a 16 Megapixel selfie sensor. The Redmi Y2 comes with 4 in 1 Pixel binning technique in its camera that possibly could make its way in the 32 Megapixel Redmi Y3 smartphone.
Going by the tweet, Jain talks about the upcoming Redmi phone with which he went on a selfie rampage with incredible results. The tweet further notes on 'Y' he was taking so many selfies, followed with him talking about clicking 32 selfies with 32 @XiaomiIndia colleagues.
In terms of specs, nothing much is known, but considering the Redmi Y2 that comes with a 5.99-inch full-screen display with 1440x720p resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio along with Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, 16MP selfie camera and a 12MP+5MP dual rear camera, the Redmi Y3 will come with a better hardware and camera configuration.
