Highlights, Mumbai Indians (155/4) beat Chennai Super Kings (109) by 46 Runs

Mumbai Indians (155/4) beat Chennai Super Kings (109) by 46 runs in Chennai. Malinga 4/37, Krunal 2/7, Bumrah 2/10

23.24 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Deepak Chahar, OUT! Caught! Sensational take from Krunal Pandya. Chennai lose their 8th. A short ball, outside off, Chahar pulls it over mid-wicket. Krunal Pandya comes running in, keeps his eyes on the ball and dives full length to take the catch.

23.19 IST: Lasith Malinga to Dwayne Bravo, OUT! Caught and bowled! Bravo departs and with that, possibly the last hopes of the table toppers. It has been a barricade of slower balls in this over from Malinga. He finally outsmarts his ex-Mumbai mate.

23.14 IST: Lasith Malinga to Mitchell Santner, SIX! Smashed and it's coming after a long time. CSK 96/6 in 15.4 overs

23.10 IST: Rahul Chahar to Dwayne Bravo, FOUR! Finds the gap. Short and outside off, Bravo pulls it wide of the man at mid-wicket and gets the boundary. CSK 86/6 in 14.3 overs

23.06 IST: FREE HIT TIME! FOUR! Nicely done. A short ball outside off, Bravo stands tall and carves this over short third man and backward point for a boundary! CSK 78/6 in 13.4

23.02 IST: Hardik Pandya to Mitchell Santner, Outside off, Santner looks to push it through the off side but gets a thick outside edge which goes down to third man. A single taken.

22.57 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Murali Vijay, OUT! A controversial catch but the third umpire has given the opener his marching orders. It's gone from bad to worse for the hosts here. CSK 66/6 in 11.4 overs

* Is that a catch? Bravo at the non-striker's end does not think that has carried. Suryakumar Yadav is already celebrating. The umpires get together and the soft signal is..... OUT. Let's find out...

22.50 IST: Rahul Chahar to Murali Vijay, SAFE. Flighted outside off, Vijay looks to defend but the ball spins away and beats him in flight. De Kock quickly collects and whips the bails off and appeals. Replays show that even before Vijay's foot was out of the crease, de Kock had whipped the bails off. A bit too quick.

22.46 IST: OUT! Taken! The wickets continue to crumble. Flighted outside off, Shorey comes down the track and looks to slog this out of the ground. But he is not to the pitch of the ball and mistimes it towards wide long on. Simple catch for Rahul Chahar at the boundary. Anukul removes Shorey for 5. Chennai Super Kings 60/5 in 10 overs

22.40 IST: Anukul Roy to Dhruv Shorey, PUT DOWN! Tough chance. Second drop by the debutant this evening. Full toss outside off, Shorey comes down the track and hits it hard back to the bowler. Roy reacts but is a touch late. The ball bursts through his fingers and rolls down to long off. A single taken.

22.38 IST: Rahul Chahar to Dhruv Shorey, Loopy and full on off, slower through the air and there is some extra bite. It spins away after landing, Dhruv presses forward to play at it and it goes off the outside half to short third man. A single taken.

* Dhruv Shorey is the new batsman.

22.30 IST: OUT! Senior Pandya strikes again! Wicket number 4 goes down for Chennai and they are staring down the barrel. Another arm ball from his quiver has handed him success. It's served around off at 98.5 kph and the ball skids off the surface. Jadhav goes deep inside the crease to play the square cut but it's too close to his body. The ball brushes his pad first before taking the bottom edge and going onto the stumps. Jadhav's poor season continues... Krunal removes Jadhav for 6. Chennai Super Kings 45/4 in 7.2 overs

22.25 IST: Jasprit Bumrah to Murali Vijay, FOUR! But what an effort in the deep by Krunal Pandya! Full marks to him. Bumrah delivers it on the shorter side around off, Vijay rises on his back foot to help it across the line but it takes the top edge and flies behind square leg. Krunal comes steaming in from the deep to attempt for the catch, dives forward but it falls just short of him. It then hits his hands and rolls behind to meet the fence as Krunal once again tries his best to pull it back with a dive. Top effort but the luck is with Murali Vijay. 40/3 in the Powerplay.

22.19 IST: Krunal Pandya to Ambati Rayudu, OUT! Right through the gate! Krunal Pandya roars in delight and it seems that someone has pressed the mute button inside the stadium. A well-disguised arm ball at 99.1 kph, landing on middle and skidding off the surface after kissing the turf. Rayudu strides forward to play it with a straight bat but it skids through, beats his bat and hits the top of the stumps. Chennai in deep early trouble. CSK 34/3 in 3.4 overs

22.17 IST: Hardik Pandya to Murali Vijay, SIX! All timing, no power. Fullish and outside off, Vijay strides forward and lofts it nonchalantly over the bowler's head for a biggie. A well-timed maximum sometimes looks better than the muscled one.

22.16 IST: Hardik Pandya to Murali Vijay, FOUR! Vijay is timing his shots superbly! Pandya serves one on the pads and Murali flicks it beautifully behind square leg for a boundary. Glorious.

22.13 IST: Hardik Pandya to Suresh Raina, OUT! Raina departs and it's a massive setback for Chennai! Poor shot selection from the stand-in skipper. Pandya angles across a good length delivery outside off, Raina steps out for a big shot but fails to control his shot. It flies off the top edge and Suryakumar Yadav gets underneath it at backward point to complete the catch. The crowd has gone quiet. Mumbai have begun brilliantly.

22.10 IST: Lasith Malinga to Murali Vijay, FOUR! Short in length and outside off, Vijay remains on the back foot with his bat hanging out. It finds the middle of the bat and flies over point for a boundary.

22.07 IST: Krunal Pandya to Murali Vijay, SAFE. Beautiful ball first up. Flighted, around off and middle, Vijay came forward to defend but was beaten in flight. The ball landed and then spun past the outside edge and just went over the stumps! De Kock then collected brilliantly and whipped the bails off, appealing as well. It was referred upstairs but replays show that albeit Vijay's foot was in the air, it came back down quickly.

22.05 IST: Lasith Malinga to Shane Watson, OUT! Watson is gone! A nothing delivery. Malinga has bowled many great deliveries to remove the batsmen and this has to be one of the very few poor ones of which he has hunted down a victim. Too full in length and angling down the leg side, Watson picks it off his pads to play the flick shot, middles it nicely also but ends up handing a straightforward catch to Rahul Chahar at short fine leg.

22.01 IST: Lasith Malinga to Shane Watson, FOUR! Good attempt Lewis but it goes in vain. Malinga smiles as he returns to his mark. Back of a length delivery on off, Watson goes on the back foot and punches it through cover-point. Evin gives the chase, puts in a dive, tries to pull it back but ends up going beyond the rope with the ball. Watson has started brightly.

* Time for the run chase! The men concerned are out in the middle. Shane Watson and Murali Vijay are the openers for Chennai. Lasith Malinga to begin proceedings. A slip in place. Here we go...

21.40 IST: Mumbai Indians score 155/4 in 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai. Rohit 67, Santner 2/13

21.39 IST: Dwayne Bravo to Hardik Pandya, SIX! This one has disappeared! Slower delivery again from Bravo but it's on a fuller length outside off, Pandya shows his muscle power there as he deposits it over long on for a biggie. 150 up for Mumbai.

21.38 IST: Dwayne Bravo to Kieron Pollard, FOUR! Boom! Bravo delivers it slower and fuller outside off, Pollard throws all his power behind his shot and spanks it over the bowler's head for a boundary.

21.33 IST: Deepak Chahar to Kieron Pollard, FOUR! Not in control but still a boundary. Chahar delivers a short ball again, on the slower side, Pollard drags his pull shot behind square leg and there is no protection in the deep.

21.29 IST: Dwayne Bravo to Kieron Pollard, Beaten comprehensively. A slower delivery outside off, Kieron walks across the stumps to play at it but is early into his shot. It beats the inside edge and rolls behind. Bravo and Pollard exchange stares. A friendly one.

21.24 IST: Mitchell Santner to Kieron Pollard, Beaten! Spinning away from the batsman, Kieron winds up for a big shot, probably over the bowler's head but misses. Rayudu collects the ball and appeals but nothing from the umpire. The keeper looks at his skipper standing at second slip who takes it jokingly and turns down the offer. Santner has bowled out with exceptional figures, 4-0-13-2!

21.22 IST: Mitchell Santner to Kieron Pollard, Edgy! Tossed up ball around middle and off, Pollard pushes inside the line and gets it away off the outside half. It rolls wide of second slip.

21.20 IST: OUT! Body blow to Mumbai, Rohit Sharma is dismissed. Santner follows the batsman down the leg side with a flat and full delivery, Sharma aims to go downtown but fails to generate enough power or timing behind his shot. Murali Vijay in the deep at long on takes the simplest of catches. Santner removes Rohit for 67. Mumbai Indians 122/4 in 16.2 overs

21.17 IST: Imran Tahir to Rohit, SIX! WOW! When Rohit goes big, he goes big! Make it a 16-run over from Tahir. Tossed up ball on middle, Rohit kneels and slog sweeps it over mid-wicket. Shorey in the deep tries his best to jump and catch it but the ball sails over his head. MI 121/3 in 16 overs

21.15 IST: Imran Tahir to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Two in two for Rohit! Tahir alters his length and goes too full this time. It's flat and on middle, Sharma takes his front leg forward and heaves it over mid-wicket. This time Shorey sprints across to his left but fails to keep it inside the rope. MI 114/3 in 15.2 overs

* Rohit is not happy with his bat. Matthew Hayden reckons that with the death overs approaching, the skipper might be looking to go in for a lighter bat.

21.14 IST: Imran Tahir to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! A good attempt in the deep by Shorey but to no avail. A long hop on middle and off, Rohit gets back and pulls it to deep mid-wicket. Shorey runs across to his right in the deep, puts in a dive but fails to pull it back. MI MI 110/3 in 15.1 overs

21.10 IST: Mitchell Santner to Hardik Pandya, Quicker and fuller on the pads, Hardik tries to flick but closes the face of the bat early. It takes the leading edge and rolls to short third man.

* Strategic break. Mumbai were going great guns but all of a sudden they have encountered a roadblock. Two wickets in quick succession and Chennai have got an opening here. They would try to build on this and limit Mumbai to as much as possible. But the presence of Rohit and Hardik in the middle along with the intimidating sight of Kieron Pollard sitting in the dugout will be bothering them. Let's see how the innings ends...

* Hardik Pandya walks in.

21.05 IST: OUT! Krunal holes out now! 2 wickets in the space of 7 balls. Identical to the fashion in which Lewis got out. Full and around off, Pandya gets down to slog sweep but does not middle it properly. Mitchell Santner is waiting for it at deep mid-wicket and all of a sudden Mumbai are in trouble... Tahir removes Krunal Lewis for 1. Mumbai Indians 101/3 in 13.1 overs

21.03 IST: Rohit Sharma slams his 35th IPL half-century. Maiden fifty for Rohit Sharma this season, 35th overall. He reaches there with a single through covers. The Mumbai skipper would target to make it big! Mumbai Indians 100/2 in 12.4 overs

21.00 IST: OUT! Lewis holes out! Nothing much wrong in the shot selection but the West Indian fails to middle his shot properly. Flighted delivery, landing full on middle, this one is right in the slot and Evin decides to heave it over the leg side. But it catches the inner half of his bat and flies straight down to Dwayne Bravo at deep mid-wicket. The 75-run stand is broken. Santner removes Evin Lewis for 32. Mumbai Indians 99/2 in 12.1 overs

20.57 IST: Bravo to Rohit, FOUR! Cheeky from the skipper! Short in length and outside off, Rohit quietly waits on the back foot and at the last moment ramps it down to third man for a boundary. MI 99/1 in 11.5 overs

20.52 IST: Mitchell Santner to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Flatter and fuller on off, Rohit makes room and stretches forward before swatting it through backward point. The fielder in the deep chases across to his left but the ball wins the race.

* Mitchell Santner is into the attack now, replacing Imran Tahir.

20.45 IST: Dwayne Bravo to Rohit Sharma, Again on the fuller side and outside off, Sharma drives it through covers for a single. 5 runs have come from the over, a quiet one after a couple of expensive ones.

20.40 IST: Tahir to Lewis, FOUR! Woah, a chance to stop that but a bit too late. Bang! Tahir goes quicker, it's flat and full around off at 102.7 kph, Lewis stands his ground and whips it down the ground for a boundary as the long on fielder runs across to his right. MI 78/1 in 8.5 overs

20.40 IST: Tahir to Lewis, SIX! We're dealing in maximums here. Lewis takes on Tahir! The leggie is very full with his length, it's around off and the West Indian powerhouse has clubbed it over the bowler's head for a maximum. 50-run stand comes up!

MI 74/1 in 8.4 overs

20.38 IST: Harbhajan Singh to Evin Lewis, Short in length and outside off, Lewis rocks back to play the square cut but finds the backward point fielder. 14 from Harbhajan's final over has spoiled his figures just a bit, still a great effort from the Turbantor, 4-0-23-0.

20.36 IST: Harbhajan to Rohit, SIX! Second one off the over and Rohit has blasted that! Once again he dances down the track to a full ball on off and muscles it straight over the bowler's head for a biggie. MI 64/1 in 7.4 overs

20.25 IST: Harbhajan to Rohit, SIX! Smashed and that has gone a long, long way. High and handsome! Tossed up ball around off, turning back in, Rohit runs down the track and dispatches it over wide long on for a biggie. Sweetly struck. MI 58/1 in 7.2 overs

20.35 IST: Imran Tahir to Evin Lewis, Appeal for an lbw! Flighted delivery around leg, Lewis goes down to sweep but misses. It ricochets off his pads and they cross. The replays find that it pitched outside leg.

20.34 IST: Imran Tahir to Rohit Sharma, Too full in length outside off, Rohit goes down low and deflects his paddle sweep to fine leg for a run.

* Hang on! On 5.6 we are shown the replays and the Ultra Edge detects an outside edge. No one appealed there, strangely. Hmm...

* Imran Tahir to bowl the 7th over

20.30 IST: Harbhajan Singh to Evin Lewis, Beauty of a delivery. Slower through the air, gripping and spinning outside off, Lewis pushes inside the line and misses. 4 from the over, 45/1 in the Powerplay.

20.28 IST: Harbhajan Singh to Evin Lewis, Flat and short around leg, Lewis turns and eases it past Tahir at short fine leg. The South African gives the chases and then puts in a slide to pull it back. They take three runs.

20.25 IST: Chahar to Lewis, FOUR! Wow, what a shot by Sharma! Chahar is on the shorter side again but the line this time is on middle and leg. Rohit swivels on the back foot and pulls it behind square leg for a boundary. 16 from the over, Chahar proving to be expensive today.

MI 41/1 in 5 overs

20.23 IST: Chahar to Lewis, FOUR! Lucky for Lewis. He nearly dragged it down. Short in length and outside off at 120.7 kph, Lewis stands back to pack a punch through covers but it catches the inside edge and runs past the keeper for a boundary at fine leg. MI 34/1 in 4.3 overs

20.22 IST: Chahar to Lewis, FOUR! Nicely played! Short in length around middle and leg, Lewis glances it off his hips and it speeds in front of square leg for a boundary. MI 30/1 in 4.2 overs

* Evin Lewis is the new batsman in.

20.14 IST: OUT! Slower delivery consumes de Kock this time. Well bowled by Chahar. He dishes it on a short of a length on middle at 116.2 kph, Quinton is early into his attempted horizontal bat shot and gets a big top edge. It flies straight up and Rayudu walks ahead to take the catch behind the stumps. Early setback for Mumbai as they lose their in-form opener. Chahar removes de Kock for 15. Mumbai Indians 24/1 in 2.4 overs

20.11 IST: Chahar to de Kock, FOUR! Delightful shot! Width on offer outside off, it's on a length and de Kock drives it crisply through covers. Once it beats the fielder inside the circle, it's always a boundary. MI 23/0 in 2.1 overs

20.10 IST: Chahar to de Kock, SIX! And that's the first maximum of the match! De Kock has dismissed it from his presence. Chahar serves it short and on middle, Quinton turns inside the crease and powers his pull shot over square leg for a maximum. MI 19/0 in 2.1 overs

20.10 IST: Harbhajan Singh to Rohit Sharma, Some spin there again. Turning in from outside off, Sharma flicks but finds mid-wicket. 4 from the over!

20.09 IST: Harbhajan Singh to Quinton de Kock, Arm ball this time. It lands on the fuller side on middle and skids back in. De Kock tries playing through the line off the front foot but it takes the inside half of his blade and rolls to wide mid on for a run.

* Harbhajan comes in..

20.02 IST: Chahar to de Kock, Three runs! Good running between the sticks. Gorgeous drive from de Kock's bat now. Full in length and outside off, the South African drives it through extra cover and it races through. Vijay gives the chase and pulls it back near the fence. The third umpire has a look and finds it to be fine. One run is saved. MI 7/0 in 0.4 overs
